Named musical signs. Use exact characters in explanatory text; this list does not supply staff positions, pitches, or a complete notation system.

Musical note emoji

Pictorial music accents with renderer-dependent colors and shapes. Copying them does not attach a sound file.

Editable music captions

Original short text accents for playlists, practice notes, and messages. Replace the sample words with your actual interests.

Choose a note accent by its actual character

♪ and ♩ are separate standalone designs. ♫ and ♬ are each one encoded character with multiple note shapes. šŸŽ¶ is another single character with pictorial artwork, rather than a sequence of the text notes.

For a playlist heading, one ♪ can be enough. For a more pictorial caption, choose šŸŽµ or šŸŽ¶ and preview its artwork in the destination.

♯ and # are different characters

♯ is Music Sharp Sign, U+266F. # is Number Sign, U+0023. Similarly, ā™ is Music Flat Sign, not the Latin letter b. Similar shapes do not make the values interchangeable.

Use the notation expected by your text, search field, or software. Ordinary text such as C# may be appropriate where an input specifically expects ASCII; use C♯ when you intentionally want the musical sign in explanatory prose.

Copied music characters do not create a score or sound

A G-clef or F-clef character can illustrate a written explanation, but the standalone copy value does not include a staff, placement, notes, or timing. A profile decorated with ♪ is likewise only text.

For an actual score, use notation software that handles musical structure. For audio in a profile, use the app's audio or link feature. If a clef shows as a box, the destination may lack a suitable musical-symbol font.

Unicode 18.0 supplies character names and codes. Caption wording is authored by SnakeBaby. This collection is a character reference and decorative-text resource, not a music notation lesson or audio tool.

How this collection is maintained

We distinguish note characters, accidentals, clefs, and pictorial emoji; check the sharp-versus-number-sign distinction; and compute codes from copied values. Examples do not imply musical playback, staff placement, or a tested integration with score-writing software.

How to use these

  1. Choose the exact character or combination and tap Copy. Labels and reference codes are not part of the copied text.
  2. Paste into a supported text field with Ctrl+V, Command+V, or the mobile Paste command. Replace any sample words with your own.
  3. Preview the saved text. Font differences and narrow fields can change the appearance or cause a longer combination to wrap.

Platform notes

  • A message, bio, display name, and unique account handle can have different character rules. Check the exact destination field.
  • Text glyphs depend on the font; emoji artwork depends on the app or operating system. Copying preserves characters, not this page's colors or drawing.
  • A missing-glyph box can indicate that the needed font is unavailable. Try a simpler character or another font where the app allows it.

Quick FAQ

What is the music note symbol ♪?

♪ is Eighth Note, U+266A. It is a text character, distinct from ♩ Quarter Note and šŸŽµ Musical Note emoji.

Is ♫ one character or two notes typed together?

♫ is one character, U+266B, named Beamed Eighth Notes. It draws multiple note shapes. Typing ♪♪ creates two separate Eighth Note characters instead.

Can I use # instead of ♯?

They are different characters. # is Number Sign and ♯ is Music Sharp Sign. Choose the value expected by the destination, especially in code or input fields; a visual substitution can change how the text is processed.

Will copying šŸŽµ play music?

No. It copies a pictorial text character, not audio. Add a real track or link through your app's supported features if you want a listener to hear music.

Why does š„ž show as a box?

The destination may not have a font containing that musical-symbol glyph. Try another font where the app allows it, or use a simple ♪ accent when detailed musical notation is unnecessary.
